Unsupported devices can run windows 7!
Hi everyone! This is my first post so it probably won't be very interesting. But I wanted to share the fact that Windows 7 can be put on machines not supporting it. For example, my last desktop (of which I got rid of for reasons I'll discuss later) was a dell dimension 3000. It only supported Windows XP, so I had to use a separate computer to download the drivers for it (as none of the drivers were installed). Once on the computer, I simply ran all the drivers in compatibility mode. And this worked great to get my computer running but because it was running XP drivers, The computer didn't totally run well. On the other hand, my Moms Dell Optiplex 745 supports vista 32-bit, so I figured because vista and 7 are so similar, I'd upgrade the computer to windows 7 before I gave it to her. Most of the drivers didn't even require compatibility mode, and the ones that did still work great. I guess because windows 7 and vista are pretty much the same kernel (vista 6.0, 7 6.1) it works better.
Funny thing is, I also got 2 Optiplex GX520's from the same place I got my moms 745- my school. My school was getting rid of all of their desktops that don't support 7, which is a couple hundred of 'em.
Anyway, that's my first post, hope you all enjoyed!
