The Olympics and Television
Here in the US there is a lot of complaints the way TV is handling the Olympics. Since London is six hours ahead of our east coast, not many of he events are shown live. Even when an event could be shown live in the middle of the day, it is being shown tape delay in the evening to get a better viewership. == The first Olympics that I remember was 1960 in Rome. There was no satellite TV. They would film (not tape) Monday's events and put them on a plane when the night was complete. The propeller plane (no jets) would fly during the night and deliver them to be shown on TV Tuesday night. Everybody knew who won but it did not matter. We just wanted to see it. Things sure have changed. We demand to see everything live now.
