A lovely song from a 1969 Tamil film Adimai Penn (Slave girl) featuring M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalitha. (MGR became the Chief Minister of the province later and after his demise Jayalalitha followed suit and still the CM currently.)
Another song from her first film in 1965 Vennira Aadai ( White Cloth) - yep, I was doing my engineering then and never missed a film on the first day especially when a new star was born on the silver screen :) -
Another number from a Hindi Film.
A 2004 BBC World Interview. ( I had moved away to an adjacent province in 1969 and so had no interest in the governance there.) When I saw this interview in youtube recently, I was really awestruck by her fluency and force. No wonder she is called the iron lady.
Incidentally she lost in the elections 2006 but regained the throne in 2011.

. These are good songs even if "poppish". Imho of course. Plus.... they ARE "what I'm listening to" at the moment. I don't think I've ever heard a person more desperately in Love than "Father Figure".
