Dad's update: He had a pacemaker fitted and everything is OK, but he is staying in the local hospital until at least tomorrow lunchtime, when he will hopefully come home. Mum is home now.

I am disconnected. Again.

The stuff of my service provider (one and only ISP available in my area of the world, BSNL Broadband, a venture of the Government of India) disconnected the service and have gone to puja vacation. So I have no other way but being disconnected upto 30th (at least) of this month.

Why? The reason is very simple. There are some other companies who sell SIM cards only, and this disconnection will increase the sell of their SIM cards. They pay a fat some the the workers of BSNL for those disconnections. But the SIM cards, ridiculous but true, cannot give a speed more than 7 kbps.

Trying something of them as an alternative, an EDGE connection, which is not reliable at all that the connection will be there for the next second, and unbelievably slow at the same time (7kbps on an average).

My apologies for such an unwilling absence. And I am requesting all the OPs whom I tried to help to forgive me for this incidence; and to my fellow helpers, too, who will have to take some extra load due to my disability to be present and help in the threads.

Hi Arc. We live at almost the same world if internet connection. But it seems I'm a bit luckier. At home I recently switched to CDMA connection with EVDO. But it is capable to run at a balanced 150 kb/s and sometimes drops to 15. But can live with it.

Hope you find an alternative for the connection very soon.
