Post got deleted when I accidently closed the browser before submiting

This has happened to me some times before and also today.

I have started answering a post today and it took me quite some time collecting my thoughts and translating them in to sentences. I have almost made a long page of my post. Then in the mean time to get some facts from internet, I opened some other websites and got the data. I was also running some programs to get the status from these programs for completing my post. In the mean time accidently I have closed the browser.

When I opened the browser again I was back in the page where I was typing my post, but all the text I have typed in the message box has conveniently dissappeared and there was no way to retrieve the data.

This has caused me a lot of dissappointment, and I did not feel like creating the same text again.

That is why sometimes I use a text editor for writing a long post and then do a copy paste in the window. But I miss it out most of the time.

I wish like in some mail clients like gmail and yahoo mail, there should have been an autosave feature (or a button) to save the text we have typed so that even if we accidently closed the forum page, when returned to the same page the text should remain there as we keep logged in to the site.

This will be a great feature if it can be implemented by our admins or developers. I am sure lots of our members have faced this problem before.

I will appreciate if someone knows how to retrieve the lost text.

Sorry but there is no way to retrieve lost text

As for the autosave - this is a feature of the newer version of vbulletin (our forum software), but we will never upgrade SF to the current version that is out now (EF runs on it) as it's not very good. A new vbulletin5 is due out by the end of the year and we will need to seriously look at upgrading to that as the vbulletin 3 we use now is end-of-life.

Thanks John for the update. Hope we will get the Vbulletin v5 for Seven Forums as soon as it is out.
