    Need Help Saving my Job

Hello everyone. I was wanting to know if you could help me save my job. So I 16 and I work at my High School as a tech helper. But that was last year when we had are old IT manager. Now we got a new IT People/person. They said they don't want me to help. So I was talking to my superintendent and he told me to email him a list of stuff I can do. I need help putting that list together. So doses anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think its that - I think all he wants is for us to help him structure his list properly - a bit like a CV or resume.

That's a great list. I have made some recommendations in red, if you would like to consider them.

There seem to be a few replicated items - think about how you might structure your list so they stand-out a bit better.

Look at how I've substituted some words - it gives a greater structure to what you can do. Don't sell yourself short. Be methodical.

    • Install required software
    • Test, fix, and replace hardware <---create a list of hardware you can work with
    • fix day to day computer problems <---need more detail here (e.g. what problems?)
    • Uninstall redundant software on computers
    • Perform regular maintenance on computers in the lab to ensure they are running well and without problems) <--- list maintenance tasks you can perform
    • Reinstalling Windows when required.
    • Keep all computer, library and associated lab equipment clean
    • Keep track of what/when things need replaced. <--- need more detail (what things?)
    • Perform regular virus/spyware scans monthly
    • Assist teaching staff when required (more detail - assist with what?)
    • Ensure netbook/laptop cage wiring are neat and tidy
    • Do Windows/Software Updates when needed. Part of maintenance?
    • Fix Common/easy computer problems Part of maintenance?
    • Assist students at Study Hall when required.
    • Install and Update Drivers when\if needed Part of maintenance?
    • Fix little/easy network issues Part of maintenance?
    • Keep track of big network issues/sites need block for QNS Part of maintenance?
    • Keep track of things need ordered for QNS <---more detail required
    • Remove redundant hardware when required <----- same as bullet #2?)
    • Ensure website backed up every semester.

Thanks Golden; I understand now. If you have been doing these things for them in the past I would mention that. Something like. I have been doing these things all along for the past ((xxxx time) and enjoyed the time and I would like to continue.
I presume that a teachers helper is time donated, (no pay). I would think mentioning that you doing these task takes a work load off of the I.T. department so they can address their attention to other needed I.T. duties.
    The point.
    1. They probably know you can do all those things, a reminder is great idea. Your list.
    2. They already know you will do it. Your past work record.
    3. Now convincing them that they still need your service to me is the prime objective.

Try and get a letter of recommendation from your former IT boss.
