Many people think of PHP, Ruby on Rails or Python and Django when choosing a language to create a new website or when choosing a language to learn to get that exciting new job. .NET, however, seems to occupy a space somewhat apart from this playground of cool kids. It’s always the last to be picked for team sports; it was shouting “Wassup!” at parties well after 2000; and it has been just plain left out in the cold. Learning languages like C#, vb.net , asp.net etc. is no longer something that is done within a classroom. Sites like Net-Informations.Com - Free online resource for Microsoft .NET developers .net tutorials enable people who have no prior knowledge of such languages learn all there is to know using their computers, in the comfort of their own rooms.

I know this thread is really old, but thanks for your input Clint

The .NET Framework isn't exactly my favorite thing, and doesn't really work well with C++. Just as an update, I decided that I was going to study C++, I'm catching up on all the things I forgotten or half forgotten.

Is English the Only Programming Language?
I was wondering about the implications that would arise from this. I've read that Hindu is an up and coming program language, and that there is a lot of programming done in Russian in Eastern Europe due to the Soviet isolation, but I'd imagine that for the most part English is the dominant...
