A question I wanted to ask long time ago

Why is it that some people posting in a forum do not post " live " links ?
The links they post are always unclickable.
These people are no novice. One of them is a MVP.
Why ?
When you answer an OP's question and provide a link, what's wrong with posting a link the OP can click open ?
Some Ops may not know how to use the unclickable links.

It bugs me everytime I see that.

Hello t-4-2,

My guess is that the link and text had been copied and pasted from another post or something. Links don't do well with that alone. A copy and paste like that must be selected and use the icon in the toolbar to clear it's format after pasted for the link to look and work properly.

Copy and Paste Example: Chillout Room

Well, they could go back to the source and copy the url, come back and paste.
That's part of the " service " if one wants to help an OP.
Can't assume the OP to know what to do with an unclickable link. No excuse.

Anyway. Thank you.

You're welcome.

I personally like to bold and underline them to make them standout better.

THAT is another one I want to know.
I can copy and paste .
I can use a word or a phrase as a link instead of the actual url, but I don't know how to underline it.

Can you show me how ?

Thank you, but that is too fancy and distractive if used in Q&A session.

Next time I need an animated avatar, I 'll ask for you.

Sure thing. You would just need to highlight what you wanted to be underlined, then click on the icon on the toolbar to underline what you have highlighted.

BSOD Help and Support
A Question, opinions and advice wanted.
I have a very good friend who is pretty much computer illiterate. (And almost seems proud of that fact). I spent many many hours over many days getting his machine back in working order a couple of weeks ago. One of the worst infected machines I've ever seen. Totally unusable due to adware/malware....

LONG SATA cables needed [ok, wanted]
My server is a Frankenstine computer. MOST parts have been swapped out at one time or another. The last upgrade to the machine was a good old fashioned cleaning, and case swap from a mini tower to a full tower. ALL the drive bays that are within reach of the cables are used, but I have a few...

I just joined because I wanted to ask a question or so. I completed A+ training early last year. Before that, I had experience with PC's going back to Windows 3.1, so installing OS or even building PC's is not an issue but as always you don't know all the answers. I previously searched this...

Recycling a movie from my harddrive is taking long long time.
Why is this. Like 10 minutes plus and it still says recycling. It should only take a second. Is it bad to let it continue at its own pace or should I restart the PC and try it again?
