    Happy Birthday 'Elite'

The classic computer space-trading game Elite has celebrated its 25th anniversary.
Elite was released on 20 September 1984 for the BBC Microcomputer and was one of the first games to use 3D graphics.
Many developers regard the title as the forerunner of many modern games and have described it as a "milestone".
David Braben, who co-developed Elite, confirmed that his company, Frontier Developments, were working on a sequel to the game.
"We'd be mad not to go back to the world of Elite and I'm very excited about it," he told BBC News.

However, he would not be drawn on a possible release date saying it would happen "when its ready".

classic game - probably the most enjoyable i've ever played...

i have fond memories of furtively sneaking into school computer (bbc) labs during lunch break, armed only with a big black floppy, hoping to zap a few unsuspecting interstellar traders to increase my rating...

i saved up pocket money and bought a tape version for my zx spectrum. i think i may have cried when my cassette-recorder chewed it up...

ah, nostalgia ain't what it used to be...

I loved this game. I remember playing it on the old Commodore 64. Privateer is a modern version of this game. :)

Hey guys, EVE seems very similar to this, although much more expansive.

EVE has to be one of the coolest games in existence, and the only game I have ever played that is worth that $15 a month charge. They earn it.

Though if I had been around when this game was out, I would have played it for sure!

Wow, old game to be using 3-d graphics. Never played it though. My oldest games were from Sierra.
