Apple loses U.K. Samsung appeal; must run 'apology' ads

This is an interesting ruling. Puts Apple in it's place.

Birss also ruled in the original case that Apple must run "advertisements" in British newspapers and on its website stating that Samsung did not infringe Apple's design patents and therefore did not break U.K. law.

Thanks whs. It's hard for Apple to win such a trivial case when they don't own the courts. Apple will be jumping around from country to country to try and win another case. Using the courts is Apples number 2 resource of income is my belief.

I think you are right. Outside the US they cannot win any courtcase. Makes you think about the American court system.

I think the main problem is in the US jury system. You have Judy and Joe sitting in the jury who do not understand the real issues and make a judgement based on emotions. And the Apple lawyers know that and take advantage of it.

In other countries the court rulings are done by professionals. That gives a better chance that proper rulings are being made in complex technology issues.

I do believe that in high tech cases professionals would be the best judges. I don't know whether the last case with Smasung was a jury or not. Sometimes it's a panel of judges. How much they know of high tech is questionable.
