An actual shot of a warning inside a vintage 1970 rental camper in Dublin Ireland a few years back:

I would like to see a road in Ireland where it's OK to drive 120 mph with a 70's camper van . The story is that sign should say 20 mph but a human typo was noticed too late, and because they thought it is a good joke they left it like that.

The sign's probably a gag. The speed limits in Ireland are in km/h, not mph. Motorway speed limit is 120km/h, btw.

Dear Lady, the camper van and the sign are from 1970. As far as I know Ireland had speed limits in miles per hour until 2005, although distances were told in kilometers in road signs already from mid 90's. Anyway, in 1970 the imperial system was the only one used in Ireland, although the change to metric system started slowly late 70's.

Anyway, the story is the one I was told by the owner of this small rental company.
