Windows 7: Laptop Buying Help

I am going to get a Core i3 laptop during the Black Friday sales. My goal was to keep the price under $350. I found this one today Acer Aspire V5 V5-571-6647 NX.M2DAA.001 Notebook PC - 2nd Gen. Intel Core i3-2367M 1.40GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, DVDRW, 15.6 Display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit at TigerDirect.com and it has everything I want except it is only 1.40 Ghz. The ones I had been looking at were all above 2.0 Ghz. Do you think I will notice any difference in the slower CPU? Thanks,

I have been looking also. I'm still about as confused now as when I started.

The i3 is a dual core hyper-thread so that will be a plus at any speed.

The only conclusion I have come to is if you add/replace the HDD with an SSD the speed of the CPU will be less relevant/noticeable.

My 2 cents.

For most "ordinary" uses I don't think you would notice much difference. Plenty of R.A.M. and in MY experience that is one of the bigger slow downs. Again, depends on how you will use it but looks like a good deal to me.

Thanks for both of your responses. I am really undecided at this point. I feel the pressure to buy now at the better prices. I am just the type of buyer the stores want.

1.4 Ghz......it maybe ok for the facebook user but I'd think you'll find it underpowered given your current PC spec.

The one you posted just came up Out of Stock.

I appreciate the answer and your time to compare it with what I have now. That is what I kind of thought. I guess I will just have to dig deeper in my pocket and find a few more dollars to get what I want.

I am kind of glad it is out of stock, it eliminates a decision. I just found this one for $419. It is a Core i5 Ivy Bridge but is only 1.7 Ghz. Acer Aspire V5-571-6869 NX.M2DAA.003 Notebook PC - 3rd generation Intel Core i5-3317U 1.7GHz, 6GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, DVDRW, 15.6 Display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit at TigerDirect.com Which would be a better deal do you think. The one you posted or the one I posted just now.

It says dual core 1.7Ghz in specs with hyper thread.

6GB of RAM is a plus.

Looks like a good price for what you get compared to their other i5 brands at Tiger.

Thanks for pointing that one out. It is at the top of my list now. Unless a great deal comes along, I am getting that one.
