I put the new stick in but it wasn't recognised, did it again and the same, still showing just 4GB installed. Opened the machine up again and looked, the light bulb went on then I hadn't pushed it fully into place.
Turn on, yippee 8GB of RAM installed, what makes me laugh though was when I had 4GB I had a score of 4.4 because of the desktop graphics, everything else was high up in the 5 score. Now I have 8GB the memory has gone up to 7.9 the others are still 5+ but the graphics are now down to 4
I'm happy though that I managed to do it myself and not have to get my son-in-law to do it, he's the tech. I told you . . . anyone who can cross-stitch like you would be able to installl the RAM! Well done!! Thanks, although I don't think the two have that much in common, apart from being nimble with my fingers.
I'll agree with what someone said that I would feel very proud of doing it, mind I think it's probably the easiest upgrade you can do so that's OK. Next step....Joan opens computer repair shop out of garage! | My System Specs |

Yes, I had to use system restore as if you try another way it needed a password which I did not have to hand. What requires a password that isn't also required for System Restore?
You could not get to Tools>Internet Options? There is no password for that on any browser. | My System Specs | | |
