I have been walking Gracie as usual this morning and Mum and I are going into Battle shortly to do some shopping etc. Dad is recovering slowly.

Glad to hear he's back home and recovering. It's also not easy being a care giver so make sure you and your mom get a little "off-duty" time.

Today I'm going to play some video games & try to enjoy my last 3 days of break. School starts on Mon & I'll have quite the schedule to keep up. In a way, it'll be good getting back...my Wife says I'm happier when I'm at school...& so is she...

Well today's been fun. The new kitten has been to the vet and had her first jabs, got the voucher in the post to help with the cost of having her spayed so arranged the appointment for her to be done so when she has the stitches out she'll get her second jab. They'll microchip her as well.

Had a freezer delivered, but the main fun was the Notebook, was using it last night shut down and unplugged as usual. Turned it on this morning to be greeted by a blank screen, oh dear what's wrong, the lights were working and the curser was in action and after a time the screen went black just like it does when going into sleep mode.

Was going to ask advice here but was tied up with one thing and another so tried something I thought of, knew it wouldn't do any harm if it didn't work, I took the battery out and left it out for awhile.

Well, I'm typing this from it now so it worked, although I did notice this morning that when I first went to start it I lifted the lid and the on light was on, even though I'd turned it off through the proper procedure. Oh well it's working lets hope it continues.

Hi Joan. You might check under Control Panel>Power Options for Choose what closing the lid does, set to Shut Down, Sleep or Hibernate - your choice.

I like to use Hibernate in place of Shut Down in most cases since it saves my work on desktop and starts up much faster.

You might get better performance following these steps to Clean Up Factory Bloatware especially establishing a Clean Boot to turn off all the pre-installed junk.

Thanks Greg, this Notebook is an Asus running Windows 8 and I'm still finding my way around it but I'll have a look to see what the lid closure is set for, thanks. :)

I'm at the community centre as usual to-day and Dad is still on the mend. They are forecasting more snow for tomorrow, but I will just wait and see, hopefully not.
