I had my first bike crash - going uphill slowly and the chain jumped the front gear. Unfortunately I couldn't get the shoes out of the pedals before I fell over. Some nicks and scrapes, but apart from that its no worries.
    Damn those velcro shoes!

After something like this the first thing to do is going through a short checklist:
    • Can I see? Check.
    • Can I hear? Check
    • Are my hands working? Check.
    • Is the flask still in my back pocket?

After these checks everything else is trivial. Just take the flask, drink and wait help.

This checklist would be appropriate for many of life's less serious problems.
