Is it best to build around the motherboard? As in buy the motherboard first, and then see which parts are the most compatible?
Firstly, congrats about your job mate! Dunno how I missed the post, but ah well.

I've only got one build under my belt so I can't speak from experience, but I chose the CPU first then a mobo to put it in. Maybe it was just luck, but I never had to choose a different part because it wasn't compatible with my other hardware. CPU > mobo > case, GPU, RAM, optical drive, cooling system > power supply with enough kick for your components :)
Thanks Tom, and I get paid every two weeks too which is a another bonus :) I'll start having a little look tonight at some CPUs.

Today......... today my plans changed AGAIN. My contract/agreement with Big A kinda sorta got screwed. Consequently, my start date for this season has been postponed by a few days/week. Hehehe...... you gotta love this business, things can change in a matter of minutes as far as options/dates are concerned. Thats either a very good thing, or a very bad thing depending on your temperment and/or personality. Most of the time I'm very cool with it but sometimes..... well sometimes I think I should just retire permanently. Drive a truck for a "regular" employer and just get off the road for good. Haha.... get off the road by driving a truck, imagine that. Tried it before, so I guess I'm just venting a bit, I'll probably be "with it" until I die.

Today, well started this morning after midnight so it was "today", I've been customizing my profile page. Been a member all this time and hadn't touched it till now . Kind of like it.

Also today, I canceled and rescheduled my Dr.'s appointments at the V.A. for tomorrow. You hear a lot of horror stories about the treatment/care of veterans at the Veterans Administration but the one here in Louisville is excellent. I have no complaints at ALL. Courteous well trained staff, clean buildings (both the hospital and the clinics I have to see), too bad the whole network isn't this well run. They even work with me with the constraint's of my work. Kudo's to all at Robely Rex Medical center from a grateful veteran. Knoxville, Tn.'s veterans hospital along with Lake City, Fl.'s also deserve a shout out.

Also today..... (been an eventful so far :)) I was offered another position. Its with a show I don't care for and a route I don't like (was there before many years back), but the moneys decent. Very much doubt if I'll take it, but its nice to know that people remember me and like my work. Words getting out that I'm not with "my usual" show anymore and have had more offers so far this year than I would have thought. Its nice from an ego point of view, what can I say?

    what! no bus.

Okay, Today 00.45 precisely i stopped smoking, i threw away the last of the tobacco in my tin and stuck on a nicotine patch before retiring to bed,
i have awoke without the craving to light up...yet!

the teenagers are still asleep so that will be the true test

i plan to keep the today thread updated with my progress as a means of forcing myself to stay on track, i feel positive about it and i can be stubborn and stick at things when i choose and am still T-total after 18years 5 months.

so expect carl like posts regarding smoking for the next few weeks.

Today i have not been smoking...

here is a picture of someone smoking, i think he is studying his popularity trend on the big screen
