Today [11]

It is the 10th day for me running now. I always thought that if I can stop it for 10 days, I can do it forever.
Now just it is to observe that I really can or not.

Trying to stop using the spray from today .....

be sure you dont stop using the nicotine replacement too soon as that can make you need it .

today i have an appointment at the smoking clinic where i wil get another supply of patches which will be a lower dose of nicotine, i presume i will get another spray which will probably deliver a smaller dose also.
that will keep me going for another three weeks then the patches will change again for another three weeks .
overall the process takes about 9-10 weeks to break the habit then wean off the nicotine.

last time i stopped i used the patches for one week and no spray. i started smoking again 6 months later.

im thinking that doing it gradually will be better in the long term,psychologically

I stopped back in the nineties, and didn't use any help, lasted for 10 years, met someone who smoked and started again, One cigarette and I was back to my old consumption within days, I am considering giving up again and have tried with all the modern aids recently, without success

As with the alcoholic who is always only one drink away from being an alcoholic again, Nicotine is a lifetime addiction

It's easy to quit smoking, I've done it 3-4 times.
Seriously I have read that smoking is more difficult to quit than drinking or even drug addiction. Those who do succeed have my utmost respect.

I do not understand this fuss about quitting smoking? It's easy, alone last month I did it 5 times.

as i have an addictive nature i know this only too well,
im currently 18 years six months teetotal.
i never went with the AA or used the 12 step program,
therefore i dont have any keyrings etc.(not sure they do them in the UK)
i know in the USA they have tokens or keyrings that signify each year sober, i would really like to have one for my 20th year.
so if anyone from America on the site knows how i can get hold of one please let me know. :)

edit : just googled them and its called a chip.
