Very lucky here in Belfast never gets to cold but then again never gets to warm either .
Jay i guess you should try doing the experiment performed by Siberian resident few weeks ago . The man boiled water and then tossed it over the balcony of his apartment. As soon as the man tosses his pot of boiling water into the freezing air, it turns to snow and leaves behind a trail of mist across the sky.
I guess climate in state of Minnesota comes closest to Siberian conditions in USA

Hey Bill, that is the truth! I have seen the samething done here with a cup of coffee. The coldest temp I can remember in my lifetime is -50F where I was living. That whole week, the temps never got above -20F during the day. The governor actually closed schools around the state becasue of the extreme cold. The past few years however, have been much milder. I am all for the global warming business!
Read about it , that boiling water freezes faster than cold water known as the Mpemba effect, the phenomenon remains a mystery to many. Not even scientists can agree why hot water tends to freeze quicker.
Its not just the hot water business, but if you put a banana outside and let it freeze, you can actually use it as a hammer.
