After my heart attack in late 2010 the meds caused a massive pile on of pounds and my previously skinny 11 stone (154lb) body to 16 stone (224lb) within a few months, over the last year it's stopped going on and 2013 is the year I'm going to spend my time in my gym (no longer censored) and try to get back to my former less fat a sweaty self.

I think I'll join you once I've got this chest problem sorted out - I'm currently awaiting an appointment from the Orthopaedic Dept at DRI. I could also do with losing weight (as could most of us).

John, have you considered something like Buy Davina Mini Exercise Bike at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Exercise bikes. ? You can still be sat at your desk, but get some exercise at the same time.

Most definitely do that. I had my first heart attack when I was 32, 1st bypass in April 2000 having been married to my sweetie for six months. Second heart attack in August 2007 just 4 days before flying to England to see my family, second by pass in Jan 2008 and 3rd heart attack in March 2009.
Now my heart is failing (I have heart failure due to all the damage) and it causes substantial pain. My next step is a pump or heart transplant. I say to everyone look after your heart. Even if you have no family history of heart disease (I do, most male relatives die in their mid 50's) be kind to your heart with exercise and get your blood chemistry checked every year. If anyone needs to talk about heart operations, attacks, heart failure etc PM me I will help with what I have lived with for many years. Happy New Year.
