Wow! What a difference a hemisphere makes. We had -23C this morning and it might go below -29C by next weekend.
Down to the tilt of the earth (can't do much about that) + the effects of global warming. I believe the global warming effect ironically can cause colder northern hemisphere winters.
Global warming has warmed our winters up though, as it wasn't that many years ago and having -35 C temps in Late December thru February wasn't all that uncommon. If you had a vehicle that sat outside you had to plug in a radiator style heater, or a heater that sat inside the oil pan, if you expected it to start in the mornings.
    Agreed.
I remember when I was a kid, into my teens, you could count on cold and snow from the end of November until at least the end of February. And I mean lots of snow. Multiple snow storms, and snow at least once a week usually.
Now we get a couple cold days, maybe a week, in January, and one good snow storm. A couple small snows here and there. Nothing like it was say, 20 years ago.
Now it's back to fishing in mid-late March.

It was 30F this morning, frozen windshield. Many of you might say 30F, big deal. But this is sunny California, and the Bay Area. Freezing is very unusual. A Guy

Here in Tempe, AZ it's been colder than an IRS agent's heart (by our standards). The past three nights (and tonight), I've had to leave a faucet running to make sure the water supply pipe coming into my home doesn't freeze.

It used to get a lot colder when I was a kid. I remember one morning seeing 17 degrees on a thermometer. Now, high twenties is the coldest we ever see now and that has been, up to now, for only an hour or two only one or two days a winter unlike "The Big Chill" (as the local news stations have dubbed it) that has had freezing temps for several hours four nights in a row (including this morning). Right now, it's 2:25 AM and 33° outside.

Well during this times the weather here in the Philippines should be hot, we should reach about 30-35 °C, but its 24 °C. I don't know why, It's cold especially in the early morning and at night. It's windy, the roof my neighbors wobbling and noisy, my father's car cover keeps flying . But I somewhat like it, It's good for my computer since the temperature is lower :).
