Why did you join the forums? How did you discover it?

I actually discovered this website by accident, when I was looking into how exactly RAM worked etc.

I joined the forums to the vast amount of knowledge which is here, and the friendly and simple nature of the tutorials, which have been designed for 'novice' users. I really enjoy the friendly and helpful atmosphere which everyone contributes to; it feels like one big group of friends :)

So, why did you join and how did you discover the forums?

I joined the forum before i really knew anything or even really used it. When i first installed Windows 7 i had an issue with my RAM causing a BSOD. members' (I dont remember who) assisted and got the issue resolved.

Then I'm currently in school, after i took my windows 7 class I Pass my certifications to get my MCSA- Windows 7. I figured I would do what i can to help others who needed it.

I joined because of the name of the Forum. I was a poor lost soul with two computers with Windows 7. I'm still lost but to a much lesser degree because of the the great help and information I received from here. My 3 brain cell can only comprehend at a slow rate so I will just have to hang around for a long while and gather knowledge at the rate I can handle.

I only recently upgraded both my desktop PC and OS. I upgraded from WinXP to Win7 and , despite being comfortable with XP, I quickly realised I needed a decent place of reference.

Thank goodness this forum was on page 1 of Google, I could have missed it!

I now have the IOS app on my iPhone as well and thoroughly enjoy browsing the threads, I have learnt so much already :d.

I was remodeling my house and needed 7 windows...

Not really. I just got a new laptop with Windows 7 installed and made the leap directly from XP to 7. I was completely lost and then I found Shawn's tutorials. I became hooked.

I came to get help to get help working . It was some three and a half years ago, June 2009, Googling got me here and I joined my first ever not work-related forums.

I am proud saying that today the Seven Forums is my home on the Internet. Each day begins with a cup of coffee and checking my subscribed threads, Virtualization forums and News at SF, in this order.

I was new to windows 7 and had problems. A bit of Googleing typically will lead you here.
I understood the frustration needing a solution pronto with nowhere to turn. The PC manufacturers appear to be a dead loss in supporting their customers and some want you to pay for it!! (in my case ACER).
After enjoying learning a bit myself both here and elsewhere I hung around answering some questions.

I had ordered a new laptop with W7 and knew nothing about it. A Google search brought me here and I've been benefiting from the knowledge that can be found here.

    Thanks, folks!
