Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Director Mike Newell, noted for his work in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Four Weddings and a Funeral has taken up the challenge of directing

Due for release sometime in 2010, Newell has enlisted the acting prowess of Jake Gyllenhaal (Jarhead, Brokeback Mountain) and Ben Kingsley (Lucky Number Slevin, A Sound of Thunder) in this movie adaptation of the popular video game.

Set in medieval Persia, the story of an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. Which is why after the prince was tricked by a dying Vizier to unleash the Sands of Time that turns out to destroy a kingdom and transforms its populace into ferocious demons. In his effort to save his own kingdom and redeem his fatal mistake, it's up to the prince and the princess to return the sands to the hourglass by using the Dagger of Time, which also gives him a limited control over the flow of time.

The big question on most peoples lips is no doubt going to be...

Is it gonna be as bad as most other video game to film adaptations?

I'm staying optomistic at this stage but you never know....

We've all seen or heard of the past video game to movie adaptations
    1. Doom
    2. Far Cry (do not watch on pain of death, trust me)
    3. Resident Evil
    4. Blood Rayne
    5. Alone in the Dark
    6. House of the Dead
I'll be honest, the only films I believe are worth watching are 1, 3 and 5 (supprising result for director Uwe Boll) but....each to their own LOL

So, the wait is on for 2010 to see if this will be a left 'Alone in the Dark', or a decent rendition.....Only (the Sands of) Time will tell.....
