In a couple of weeks we might just (hope not) see more of this as new members come on board. It's not really that people are stupid or idiots it is just they sometime have the tendency not to use "COMMON SENSE." :)
They know just enough to get into trouble and the do and they will. Im already seeing abt twice as many. They also have a low frustration tolerance. You can hear their voices rising in their typing.

Thats why we are here. If I had 1% if the kind of help I got here and we give freely back in the stone age I might not have grey hair.

We have a good crew form the top down. Im looking forward to it.

Zig, Couldn't agree more, and by the way if you have children then I hate to tell you this, albeit the gray hair came from them. :)

Just notice something interesting; in the SF Black as you scroll upward the text dims, and the text on the next post gets bright. At least it does on my Hannspree 28" monitor.

Per say Fellows, Why should a MOD REMOVE it. Is it not the POSTERS right to post what he feels is correct.
Seems he has the "right to post what he wants". ??
Did his post violate some RULE of the Forum? Then it should be REMOVED.
If it did not VIOLATE a RULE. it should be left as is.

    Just my opinion.
A valid line of reasoning of course.

I'm not much of a disciplinarian personally, but in this instance I felt somewhat responsible because I'd asked the OP to paste the output of a particular command line. I didn't say "make sure your account name is actually your real name - first, middle, and last", nor did I suggest they should also be in their profile directory structure when they executed the command (thus making the username part of the prompt), nor did I tell them to screenshot the entire window, thus revealing the output, and the prompt, and their full name :)

But, as Tews pointed out, there's an obligation on me, as the one who supposedly has a little bit more experience than the OP, to protect them from themselves, especially when my instructions may have inadvertantly led them to do something slightly silly. His name was rather unique too - not exactly John Smith, as Antman pointed out.

I had a little look and it turns out there's an addendum to the rules which discourages or even prohibits the use of full real names:

All combined, I felt it was best to flag the post and hence to let moderators ex3rcise their superior judgement. That's why they get the big bucks

If you think I was wrong, I'm totally open to considering a different viewpoint.
As stated above. No, I think you did the correct thing. Also as stated
that should make "US GURUS" (hate that phase) more careful in what we ask OPs to do, be very precise in "PLZ post the following"
Sample: Plz post your System Specs using Belarc. When you have the file saved as TXT. plz edit out your Special KEYs and Serial Numbers All full IP Address and if shown passwords.
sample of what not to show: Ahead - Nero Recode1A2X-C701-4000-2394-3695-4066 (remove the serial number).
so many ppl during Vista startup days posted this info in full. and of course it showd the version of Vista and KEY.

I hereby remove my original remarks..You did the RIGHT thing.
