if it came down to it, i could use the USB install method. but i believe you are correct, and there is a recover partition installed. (though not the issue)

and as far as buying a new screen, the little kid who keeps bugging me to fix it, is only 12, and cant work, under US law (ergo = no $ to buy one)

i think my options are running scarce. but thanks for the help guys.
Now this child of 12. where might she be. in relation to others, whom might have olders working stuff close by .
State (NY) and town might be of assistance. you never know.
who might live close to you and be willing to GIVE.

AS-IS Acer Aspire One 8.9in Laptop 1.6GHz 1GB 8GB WiFi - eBay (item 370275989073 end time Oct-23-09 08:52:22 PDT)

Here is the cheapest Screen I could find for the same system, color should make no difference.
I'd love to have both, just for Play and Test.

If the replacement screen does not come to fruition immediately, I can post the list of keystrokes to change the resolution to something non-widescreen,

However, hopefully a replacement LCD will be yours!
