Cheaper to park ILLEGALLY than pay for Legal parking

    Hi there
Can you believe this -- I had to check the date wasn't Apr 1st.

From a City which has one of the most prestigious universities in the world and probably one of the highest concentration of Nobel prize winners.

Shows that they aren't all that good on Basic Arithmetic though. !!!!

BBC News - Cambridge illegal parking cheaper for shoppers

    Cheers

Seems to be quite a lot of Cities which offer a discount if fines are paid quickly .... Parking fines has already been increased here In Northern Ireland last year from £60 to £90

    parking fees are extortion.
i dont drive but if i did and was going into town i would do the same as i do now.
i walk into town do my shopping ,usually get food shopping and heavy stuff last from the supermarket then get a taxi home.
the taxi fare being almost cheaper than a parking space for 2 hours. including tip
and the taxi driver carries some of the bags in for me.

Charging for car parking was the first nail in the high streets coffin, Amazon was the final one.

We used to have free car parking spaces in Milton Keynes, but now you will have pay for all of them, and the bus fares have increased too.

Being a pensioner has it's advantages in some ways, I don't pay bus fare and any shopping I do is delivered to my door.

I have a bus pass, which gives me discounted travel anywhere in MK until the day before I'm 19

    I only pay 45p, and it's usually £2.10
