    How to perform a proper CLEAN ALL...

    Steps:

    1. Place the HDD in a tub of hydrochloric acid

    2. If CLEAN ALL is proceeding properly, black froth and gas should emit from the tub:

    3. After several hours, your HDD will be cleaned:

    As a comparable noob I got worried about a HDD I had after reading about index.dat files. A person I knew had used my computer a couple of times and ..... well, was arrested for sexual offenses. I freaked out worrying about if he had done anything/left anything on my machine. I bought a disk wipe program,used it then took my HDD to the machine shop where I was working and spot welded it in numerous places then smashed it in a brake machine and put the pieces that were left through a steel straightener machine. THEN took the slaggy pieces and threw them into the Ohio River from the second street bridge.

    This looks much easier.........

    I would have just booted to safe mode with command prompt and typed

    CD\

    then enter

    then typed

    del index.dat/s

    then enter

    But your method works too

    Said I was a noob.... But that led to my first disk change and first reinstall! Also to my first robbery by a computer repair place. Got the drive in , got Windows reinstalled ............ sorta. Took it to the repair place, paid $248.00 for what I soon afterward found out to be installing 2 drivers that I already had on the machine! $248.00 for 4 mouse clicks!!! That's when I decided to find out something about these things and the rest is history..

    A hammer and a little effort works as well for old/bust HDDs

    I think you missed a spot.....

    You know you're going to have to update your system specs now, don't you?

    Which drive was it?
    Hard Drives
    1*OCZ Vertex
    2 60GB SSD;
    2*Samsung F3 SpinPoint 1TB in RAID0;
    3*Samsung F1 SpinPoint 1TB in RAID5;
    1*Western Digital 500GB External USB 3.0
    1*Seagate 500GB External USB 2.0
    and why does your HDD list go 1,2,2,3,1,1
