Scientists from Michigan Technological University use social media to find possible time travelers.

Scientists from Michigan Technological University searched the Internet for time travelers and published their results in the physics pre-publication database arXiv on Dec. 26. They looked specifically for social media posts that seemed to predict the future — mentioning events before they happened.

While they didn't find any, Doctor Who and Back to the Future fans need not worry: the results don't disprove time travel.

GERMANY:

UFO disrupts travel at Bremen airport

An unidentified flying object ruined travel plans for passengers at Bremen airport on Monday night when it kept appearing on air traffic control's radar.

The airport said on Monday night that the UFO showed up on its radar several times over three hours from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.

Police said in a statement that they were alerted at 6.30pm about a UFO over Bremen and a patrol car also saw the object.

New York Pastafarian Christopher Schaeffer Sworn Into Town Council Wearing Colander

Christopher Schaeffer, a member of the "Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster," was sworn in as a member of the Pomfret Town Council in New York wearing a colander.

Schaeffer is a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, a group founded by an atheist in 2005 that has adopted the spaghetti strainer as its symbol.

City councilman pens resignation letter in Klingon.

It takes a special kind of politician to end his term by signing a resignation letter "chaq DaHjaj QaQ jaj paj." That's "maybe today is a good day (to) resign." In Klingon.

David Waddell, a city councilman for Indian Trail, N.C., decided to send his resignation letter to Mayor Michael Alvarez written in Klingon as an inside joke. "Folks don't know what to think of me half the time," Waddell told The Charlotte Observer. "So I might as well have one last laugh."

The politician used the Klingon translator on Bing.com in case the mayor wasn't fluent in the well-known "Star Trek" language. In fact, Waddell didn't just write his resignation using standard Klingon, he chose the beautiful, pointy-looking written Klingon language of pIqaD.

In a submission to one of the world’s leading medical journals, German doctors report the case of a man who came to hospital suffering from severe heart failure. Medical examinations at the Marburg University clinic ruled out the most likely causes, coronary artery disease. The 55-year-old man also had fever of unknown origin, had gone almost deaf and blind and had an underactive thyroid.

Fortunately for him, the Marburg is unusual among teaching hospitals for offering a lecture entitled: ‘Dr House revisited – or: would we have saved the patient in Marburg as well?’ – led by Dr Juergen R. Schaefer of the hospital’s Centre for Undiagnosed Diseases.
