"You are not running xp" of course I am not. I'm running Android 4.1.2
Lol, I'm using 4.4.2. Also, good luck finding drivers for Windows 8 those that are upgrading.
Actually, I was pleasantly surprised at the driver support in Win 8/8.1. When I upgraded a 5 yr old netbook from XP Home to Win 8.1 Pro, drivers for all built-in devices except for the sd card reader were there on first bootup. After a couple of days, I received a system flag providing me with a link to the missing driver. I just needed to click on it and it was installed.
Really? Well I never thought that. So Win8 has less driver problems than Win7???

Never heard of w7 having driver problems, it's the most driver complete OS MS has come out with.

H-p wasn't a quick release artist for drivers for an all in one printer,
Although a x-p canon worked very well so it was device manufacture dependent,
I got a upgrade disk as soon as win-7 was released,
I expected some conflicts and only had one

Well I guess I was one of the lucky ones because my all in one printer works fine. I used to use it with WinXP.

That's what drivers are for and what I meant too.
I have a very old HP printer and an Epson scanner, both made before Vista. They both work with the original (XP) drivers in w7. There is a universal printer driver in w7 as well which can run the printer.

The only thing I haven't been able to run in w7 so far is an old game called Tai Pei, which is 16 bit and came with Win 95.
