I'm having pain from the back of my right hand to my arm pit so I started using my mouse with my left hand.
Didn't change the mouse setting just started using the mouse with the left hand.
It's not as easy as it sounds, at least for me.
It is somewhat a challenge. It took me a couple of day to get fair at doing so.
Give it a try and see how long you can do it.

I'll give it a try when I'm next on my desktop, can't do it on my Notebook as there's not enough room on the left side of me on the couch, it's OK with the mouse on my right side as there's more room.

Yes I've done that before a bit awkward to say the least
Cut my finger pretty good is why I had to use my left hand,
Settled for middle finger mouse wheel and clicking is was so weird
But it was a bit less awkward switching mouse buttons,

I started that routine years ago at work because of a carpel tunnel issue. Still use right mouse at home, and never switched mouse settings. It has helped. Also discovered it helps keep the IT/admin away from my desk because it drives him nuts.

It sure is not easy to start with but with lots of practice it does get easier .. I have actually found that using the touch-pad is easier than the mouse .. It is surprising what you can do when you have to ..

I can see a touch pad being easier to switch hands on (although, for me, nothing is easy about a *&^%$#@! touchpad) but when I have tried to use a mouse in my left hand, I lost what little sanity I have left. Besides, I have my mouse pad taped to the desktop to the right of my keypad so it won't wander and I'm spoiled by how slick it works with the mouse tape on my mouse skates.

WARNING: Not all mice are created for ambidextrous people. Some buttons are placed on the left-most side, which are commonly accessed using the right hand thumb. You might have to get a mouse with buttons on each side.

For instance, if you have a mouse with extra buttons for browser navigation.

I have had issues with my right arm and shoulder for a few years now and have been using a right handed mouse with my left hand ever since. The weird part is that now, using a mouse with my right hand feels strange. :)
