Is a real Powerful Smartphone really needed ?

Hey guys i want some takes on what makes up a good smartphone mind you all i am talking budget Phones from 150.00 to 399.00 max

I will throw some phones out there that i have used recently

Currently using just got it last week Alcatel One touch fierce cost me $50 they took off a Hundred bucks normal price $169.00 specs Alcatel One Touch Fierce - Full phone specifications

My old phone had it 2 years before the Alcatel ZTE Avid my old phone which cost me 149.00 at the time specs ZTE Avid 4G - Full phone specifications

I just Purchased this Phone and will wait for it to arrive Blu Life Play x 184.00 original 300.00 specs BLU Life Play X - Full phone specifications

By the way these are all no contract Unlocked phones with out needing a 2 year plan what can i say i'm a cheapo $40 bucks a month unlimited and provide my own phone

Anyway what do you guys think ? Do you really need a super powerful smartphone especially if you are not in Business or some kind of high position is it really necessary ?

Could a moderate phone such as these meet the needs of most people who can't swing a $500.00 to 800.00 phone ?

    Hey Tommy,

I'd say it all depends on if a phone meets the individual's needs and wants or not.

If a lower bargain phone works for you and meets all your needs, then I'd say save your money and get it, or wait a bit for the expensive phone to be much cheaper. :)

Actually this is sorta a test to see what people really go for i actually like my old AVID i gave it to my mom though and moved on I ordered the Blu Life Play x will be giving that one a go

My main thing is why pay for a high price phone when a lot of these new one's have good features just like the top of the line also there is also this phone i opted a application for this is called the flagship killer Home - OnePlus.net

I have a galaxy s2 that is quite dated (by others standards), but is more then fast enough for me, and i am running a custom rom (another reason why speed is better) so I am up to date on android. Works well.

Does it have to be an Android phone or what about a Windows phone ?

I have the entry level Nokia Lumia 520 and think it's brilliant, it has a great camera as well, because it's the entry level version they don't cost as much, mind you I'm in the UK so don't know what your options would be. :)

Any phone is ok i am just going with Price ranges and services

I like the fact that i have a no contract phone service and others that have one get high level phones but at the cost of being stuck for 2 years

So pretty much it looks like not too many would care for top of the lines phones which people tend to push so i have been looking at alternatives that would be equal or almost better

The phone i just Ordered is on par with Galaxy 4 most likely by the end of the summer i will purchase their flagship Phone the Blu Life pure XL that is 450.00 that has a beefy 2.2 quadcore snapdragon Adreno 330 gpu

What i am doing now is gathering general information and testing the phones to see which one is best for Pictures ,Movies and streaming that have a end cost to almost $500 anything above $400 i think is too much especially with the rapid changes in technology

I have a few results but no screen shots

The Alcatel One Touch Fierce scored 13855 on Antutu Benchmark ,Quadrant 4800

The ZTE Avid scored 15785 on Antutu Benchmark Quandrant 5800

I seen a video on Blu Life Play X Antutu Benchmark 17000+ when i get mine will test if this is true

in the last month these are the phones i used Cost to performance is not bad starting from $50 to 184.00 thus far These phones are decent for the price

Anything above $200.00 i would expect to get 20,000 at least on Antutu Benchmark not only going by this but Camera Mega Pixel Auto focus and light sensitivity 2 of these phones are GSM active if that makes a difference in opinion and one phone doesn't offer SNS intergration

    Hi there.

Powerful smart phones depend on what you want to do with them -- normally browsing speed etc is more a problem of your WIFI connection or whether the phone or connection is 3G or better - 4G enabled.

Any sort of decent HD (1080p) video watching on smart phones or remote media streaming will need a more powerful processor - but if you aren't interested in turning your phone into a "Mini Cinema" then all these Qud / 8 way processors are way over the top and just EAT batteries.

That said the S5 is worth it just for the sheer delight of a great screen and uses battery better thanb the S4.

Otherwise its up to you -- I do like the larger screens thoough so HTC might also be worth looking at.

    Cheers

Wow! I guess I'm still in the stone age. I'm on my second flip-phone in the last 12 years and can't use all the free minutes I get. I'm either at home with PC, at the shop with a PC or on the road. I can't imagine using apps in a car.

Basically you are leaning towards what i am learning The Camera for me is one of the biggest concerns because my wife hides the Digi cams and then she can't even find them

So now i am on the hunt for a reliable phone that will make pictures look like a nice Cam took them so far Avid and the Play has the best Camera's but there is one Blu device that boast 13mega pix and 5 mega pixel front cam the new flagship comes 16 mega pixel and 8 mega pixel front

The one just ordered is 8 mega pixel 2 mega pixel front on par with Galaxy S4 only difference with the galaxy faster LTE and higher Res
