    Acer chromebook!?

Any one got one/have input on them?

been looking at a cheap laptop that I can shove in my work bag, and not worry too much about. I have a macbook but id be to worried about damaging it, especially as I throw my bag around a lot!!

I plan to instal linux on it as its more flexible than chrome Os and stick in a larger SSD as the standard 16gb isnt really worth its own weight.

people are installing windows on them but failing when it comes to specific drivers, but hopefully it may work one day.

but yeah anywho.. anyone used one/own one/ hate them!?

p.s im not a fan of tablets, which is what everyone suggests, ive had 3 and sold them with in a week of buying them!!

I was going to get a chromebook until I made the mistake of getting a windows RT surface tablet. I just needed something for university work/notes but the restrictions the surface has on it are quite annoying. I will be watching the thread because I too would like to know which are good. For when I come to replace this annoying tablet. :)

Acer is junk usually. There monitors are decent, but I find a lot of there other products to be flimsy and cheaply made.

Most chromebooks are great though. Especially for 70-80% of what the population does on the computer, the internet.

There are many people out there who run windows and shouldn't be. For most people, a chromebook or tablet or even linux with thee web browser would be more then sufficient.

I have the Asus DM550 with seven on it and it's great. I pulled the 8 ssd and put a 256gb ssd and win7 on that. for the price its a great little tool for working in a cramped server room. I paid $359.00 for mine and new egg has it now for $319.99

All I can tell you is that I had no issues with the Asus. I installed 7 via a usb stick and had it hard wired to ehth0
