    Rep Can Be Rough

I was looking at the Rep ratings here and it reminded me of something. -- Last year I joined this Houston Texans football site where they talk football. It has the Rep like here, but there is not a cap on it. If your Rep Power is 20,000 that is what someone gets. -- I had been on this site about a week and I posted a message that this guy didn't like. He gave me Negative Rep. It was 50,000. Under my name I had the minus 50,000 in Red numbers. I couldn't believe it. Knowing I would have this Albatross around my neck as long as I was on the site, I just left.

LOL, must have been a good post to get slapped with a -50,000 rep for it.

All you need to do is tick someone off and every post you make after that will be a "good" one to the person you ticked off. I've had one or two jerks follow me from one forum to another because they didn't like the truth (one got himself banned on one forum by doing so). Personally, I don't worry about the rep, anyway; too often, I see rep being given just because someone happened to think a post was funny or something else superficial instead of helpful.

Before leaving I think I'd change my sig to encourage people to Neg Rep me. :) I'd just consider the magnitude of the number. Not if it was positive or negative. (Of course if they excluded you from everything based on it then I may have chucked it and walked too.) :)

Yeah, sometimes the Ignore List doesn't seem like enough. It would be nice if there was a button you could push to start a counter. Like if every time you posted it was followed up immediately by the same person with inane criticisms, it would tick the counter. If it gets to some threshold then it alerts the staff you have a stalker. :)

I still don't worry about it (life's too short, especially at my age). In most cases, those yoyos hang themselves, like the one who got himself temporarily banned on one forum. When he followed me to another forum, I just posted a response with links to the forum posts that got him banned on the other forum. That shut him up; in fact, I haven't seen him on either forum since, even though he has been reinstated on the forum he got banned on. I did have a mod harassing me on one forum recently. He accused me of trolling. I had reported him one time before and got him off my back for about a year. When I reported him this time, another mod sided with him so I just left the forum. The individual forums I frequented there were pretty much dead anyway.

If I get a rep for helping someone that's fine if I don't that's fine too even though I've helped someone.
What bothers me is people have "If I have helped you please hit the small scale shown above in their sig or just below it.
I just ignore those members and just move on.

Like Lady Fitz stated "Life is too short just like other parts of my body!" hehehehe
Have a GREAT WEEK-END and if I have offended anyone please REP me!
