    Search engine results

This is not a problem now. I just want to put it on record for the non-believers. Some time ago - maybe a year or so, someone posted online that she could not bring up Wikipedia when she did searches. No one believed her. Everyone kept saying she was doing something wrong.

News! It happens. It happened to me this morning. I used Firefox - which, of course, gives me Google search frame. I used Bing. I used IE Search (not sure what it uses). Whatever I typed in to search, all I ever got was Google Answers. One time I got Google Glass answers. One of my searches was simply "Wikipedia". Never did I get a Wikipedia link which is what I almost always prefer to check first. All I got for every search I did was a page of links to Google Answers.

As I said, no problem now. I went away and did other things. When I came back, all was well. I just want say, for the unbelievers, yes it does happen. The gremlins are alive and well.

Wikipedia is not a "reliable source of information". Anyone who goes to it can alter the info.

The question is not whether Wikipedia is a good source of information. The question is do we want to be denied access by a company that thinks it knows better what we want than we do. And it gets worse as I found out at gmail yesterday. That's another topic. So, let it rest. I'll just ask: Do you enjoy being controlled on your computer by what one company thinks you should or should not read/write/save, etc.? I didn't think the internet was supposed to work this way.

Sorry. I didn't intend this to turn into a diatribe. I was only confirming what another researcher had found - Wiki disappearing. I do not even claim that Google did this but it is odd that every single link I got was a Google link.

    I'm gone.
