I wouldn't be in any rush to get into sub ohming since that isn't for those just getting into vaping. It takes a bit of time for most to get over the old nasty and move on fully into vaping to start with. So far after 23months time I am getting where I should be between familiarities with hardwares as well as not only what flavors but what PG/VG ratios will or won't work.

You also need to get familiar with how things work as far as exceeding what is seen on the safe vaping charts since none seen so far go over 6v while these new mods coming out go up as far 9v! There's quite a bit to take in before you will feel comfortable enough to look things through step by step.

Meanwhile I had seen the photo being passed around but found some useful information for those of you who are just now or recently getting into vaping you should be aware of in regards to a possible allergy coming about from PG in particular. Some asthmatics since PG is often found in inhalers have run into this type of problem while not seen with most. PG Allergies & Side Effects | Vapor Awareness?

Well I found out how long the coils last in the inferno almost three weeks :/
Not sure if Derek has the same lifetime though ?
It still kind of works but near as good
I suppose that equals about 2 cartons of cigs for me anyway ?
Cheers.

That's about how long mine lasted too Mike, I've only changed it once so far in the one tank, still on the original in the other.

Thanks for confirming I too have one in another tank that's still going but I don't use it much,
It has a 70/ 30/ 16 nic that isn't quite good enough,
I find I do need the 24 nic

The coil life will vary on flavor too.
Some flavors tend to gunk up the coil really fast, and others burn cleaner allowing it to last much longer. I've had flavors in the past that destroyed a head in a matter of 1 day. Everything just tasted burnt.

In rebuildables, that part isn't much of a issue because you can tear down, dry burn, and rewick.
But with the ones where you just replace a atomizer head it could be.Since with those, you can't dry burn without destroying the wick.

Essentially all a dry burn involves is removing the wick, rinsing everything off, and fire the coil to burn of any residue that may be caked on there.
Then rewick and refill.
Since you cant easily remove the wick that makes it a issue.

The only way I know to do a partial dry burn on them is rinse the atomizer head in water really good. Don't be afraid to soak it down. Blow through the holes where the wick is and re-wet it. Do this a couple times.
Then assemble the unit without the tank and fire the coil by itself, briefly a couple times. Just a few short bursts. You'll hear it crackle.
The water should keep the wick safe, but the idea here is to burn residue off the coil while being careful not to burn off all the water and scorch the wick.

The first few puffs will not be so good after you refill, and lack vapor but it'll work itself out soon enough. At first it will be just water vapor until the Ejuice soaks into the wick.

On a side note, the nic level is going to vary greatly depending on personal need as well as hardware.
I was on 18 for the longest time as that done well for me. When I got my Kayfun, it was too much and I cut down to 12 without missing anything. It produced a lot thicker, dense vapor than I was used to and I was getting too much nicotine at 18mg with my vaping habits.
Then again, Id been vaping awhile and long past the need for 24mg. I did need the 24's when I was first starting. I was a very heavy smoker 2-3 packs a day.

At any count, I think 24 will be good for some, but 18 I think is a very good place near the beginning. But of course, we all have different needs.
But the level of nicotine DOES impact throat hit.

When I mix my own. a 50/50 blend with 0 Nic has no throat hit al all. Super smooth, can't even tell your vaping anything. 70PG/30VG helps add a bit of throat hit at 0 but not a lot.
I found for 0mg mixes, 60Vg/40PG works great BUT only if I add menthol. All my 0mg mixes are menthol.

I've talked to some who have bought all natural cotton balls and replaced the small wicks in bottom coiled tanks. The coils I get here however are not so easy to see that done with however and are supposedly only good for two weeks while I have the coils in tanks that have lasted several months since I switch tanks frequently.

On just about 30 Smok Tumblers I would say 13-15 coils have been replaced since I first started using those last November. That doesn't include the swap of 2.4ohm coils for the 2.0ohm I found works out the best for both flavor and vapor on that particular design of tank. But a good soaking in hot enough tap water and some efferdent for an overnight dip is good enough to get rid of any buildups.

One thing I found is when you swap flavors and get a hot vape if you are running with a variable battery or mod and change the coil and it still vapes hot is to simply lower the voltage or wattage and then notice how the vape improves. It depends a lot on where you get the ejuice as well as which type of flavor when this happens and can be mistaken for dry wicking issues when the V or W is simply set up too high for comfort.

Meanwhile I ran into a nice little BBC London segment someone had put on YouTube that is a good 6minute wrap up comparing the risks of vaping vs smoking from a few in the medical profession. This one sheds a more positive light on ecigs. Vaping on the BBC's "Trust Me, I'm A Doctor" - YouTube

Yep it was a chocolate 24nic that Steve sent I've been using in his tank that finally gunked up
Might try to soak it because I did stick a thin paper towel in it and it was dirty :/

A pretty positive video, makes me even more glad to be vaping as apposed to smoking.

Yea, you can rebuild those little replaceable heads. You can build a new nano coil and rewick.
Though possible, not easy.

I rebuild often and have no issue with it, but rebuilding those disposable ones I have a hard time with.

The person I passed the Vamo V2 to is using RDA more regularly now but still cleans the replaceable coils by tossing them into a denture dish and slipping in a single Efferdent tablet to allow them to soak overnight. Here I was contemplating doing that only using a teaspoon full of Oxyclean the laundry detergent since that will clean the inside of a coffee urn(stainless steel) when tossing boiling hot water in. Two tablespoons of hot tap water for cleaning a 12 cup pot on a Mr. Coffee brewer works well and then you flush them out after with warm water. No traces of Oxyclean remain!

The comparison there is a great analogy since it rolls up quite a bit in just those 6 minutes. Did you know PG was recently introduced as an effective substitute for Ethylene Glycol(toxic) to make antifreeze safe. It has been in asthmatic inhalers since the 50s and is found in various products like dog treats and was deemed safe for human consumption.

When I made the attempt to open a few Smok coils used for Tumblers, the Trophy, HBC, GBC, and other tanks I broke two on the spot just trying to replace the factory wick with all natural cotton balls where you tear a thin piece off of and stretch to fit. Only the very tip of the factory wick is seen sticking out maybe a 1/16 of an inch. Then you have to see what the resistance ends up as afterwards. I had to agree with some others who simply took my advice about ordering replacements in a large quantity to get them cheaper like a buck and a half rather then buy each for $2 or so.

I gave up on the top coiled 1.6ml clearomizers that are either disposable or have replacements available since the bcc tanks vape much smoother! So far so good on not having to go through any large number of them for the stainless chrome base and nouth piece with the polycarbonate plastic tank section. The first tanks I checked out however were a joke as far as leaking and putting the cartimizer core into boiling water to clean and then leaving out to dry until hitting the button about 6 times in a row to vape off most of the water that remained before going to fill those up!
