NO! The pin is there for the two or three positions. That acts as a stop to you from turning it too far. Instead of moving to the next larger hole or opening you watch both sides to see one or both holes on the opposite side appear along with the first seen on the same side as the pin when looking at the slot there. The way that is supposed to work is to either have 1, 2, or all 3 exposed when going to increase the air flow without much play room to adjust it.

To adjust the AFC there I found any typical rubber or perforated jar opener will work to get a grip on the AFC itself. This is why I had to label that a cheapie type set up. Even with the Kanger Aerotanks the ring on the afc is much easier to turn.

What I am waiting for now is the Atlantis V2 coming out in a week or so to see how large the tank is on that. I can imagine Aspire smartened it up a bit after people complained about the first being too small in capacity. They don't have product page seen yet however for the details. Apparently they want to keep selling the 5ml replacements until then. When running a Bing search I ran into this however.

Here's a quote from one of the reports found. I already had heard it will still take the same 0.5 coils but will offer two more 0.3 ohm and 1.0 ohm.

    Rumored Atlantis V2 Specs

Because the Atlantis has been so popular, Aspire has went on coming up with their sequel to the Aspire Atlantis. Aspire is developing the Atlantis 2.0 based on it’s customers’ feedback:
The Aspire Atlantis V2 will come with the following sub-ohm coils:

    • 0.3 ohm (60-70W)
    • 0.5 ohm (20-30W)
    • 1.0 ohm(40-50W)

    Aspire Atlantis V2 Release Date

According to Aspire, the new version will be released at the end of this month. That means you can have in your hands an Aspire Atlantis V2, by April. We are also keeping tabs on a possible Aspire Atlantis Mini, check out our Rumors & Updates page here.
The report at one vendor site was dated 3/13. Aspire Atlantis 2 Rumors & Updates

How ironic since that was when I made the Big 60 birthday! What's interesting is I have been able to run upwards of 40-50w with the Atlantis with the new one able to handle a bit more with certain flavors. Besides that I had also been considering a good look at the Horizon Artic tank. But that would end up simply being another 2.5ml? more like 2ml tank based on the same design with the four holes. I will take that as a leave the pin in :) Today it is fine, I can adjust it pretty easily. Just need to screw the base on really tight and the AFC is able to turn.

Ok guys. After a while of doing DIY mixes, I have 1 flavor that I always make thats just great, and IMHO, better than many vendor juices. And can be made super cheap.
The downside, It will take about 5-6 weeks to be ready to vape (or taste as intended) so making large batches is recommended.

Its a RY4 recipie, and as with any tobacco in DIY they take a LONG time to steep.
So, for those who want to try it out, head over to to Wizard labs and grab some VG, PG, Nicotine and for flavorings: TFAs RY4 Double, TFAs Caramel (Original), and TFAs Vanilla Swirl.

    RY4 Double 9%
    Caramel Original 4%
    Vanilla Swirl 3%

I always mix a 50/50blend and 8mg nic. So my recipie, for 120ml (using 60mg strength Nicotine) is:
    Nic - 16 ml (60mg base)
    PG 24.8 ml
    VG 60 ml
    --------------
    RY4 10.8 ml
    VanSw 3.6 ml
    Caram 4.8 ml

120 ml @ 8mg costs about $5.50-$6.00 to make. I also add a few drops (1drop per 10-15ml or so) of Acetyle Pyrazine 5% also from TFA. Not much as its potent, but gives an extra something to the mix thats great with deserts and tobaccos. And especially nice with this one.

This stuff is great after its sit awhile (5-6 weeks) can be vaped before then but will not taste as it should. Too soon it has a scotch tape kinda taste best I can describe. I dont know how to describe it, but youll taste it and know it needs more time.

if you like a bit more flavor on the tobacco side, you can also add a few drops of a good tobacco to it too. Ive tried it adding a few drops (about 10) of Western tobacco and it came out good. But the recipie given is the one like the best myself. But I havent tried any other types of tobbaco as additions.

Thought Id share for those who may want to try mixing your own. This is a great one, just sad it takes so long to be ready.
    For something more immediate,

for flavoring try Capellas Strawberries and Cream, by itself at 9-10%.
Maybe 1% sweetener also if you want something sweeter. This one you can vape after 1/2-1 day. Best after 4 days IMO.
    Another I love is with:
    Capellas Peaches and Cream 8%
    TFA Juicy Peach 4%
    TFA Bavarian Cream 4%
This one will take about a week or little over (due to cream)
Staright Peaches and Cream by itself takes 1 - 5 days to be ready.

The pin acts as a stopper to restrict the range of how far you can turn the afc since the distance is short to begin with as far as the slight turn for each position. When looking at both sides you can easily see how little it takes to expose each of the three intake holes.

As far as getting the tank on tight it doesn't take much for just about 510 threaded. Once you have one on for a bit the heat and expansion and then the cooling off and contraction seem to tighten them up a bit further. You then may find a jar opener or two will come in handy at times not only to get a tank off but to get it open to refill.

Now as far as the ejuice I end up with depending on source since I don't DIY most of the time there doesn't seem to be wait as far as any steeping time required when going through the primary vendor while samples tossed in by different vendors may vary. There are techniques to see the steeping time brought down quite a bit since the vendor I mainly go to brews up fresh batches for individual orders and ships in a day or so with the flavors ready to vape as soon as they are in. But I can imagine you have some fun there experimenting with things as long as you have the patience and place to work with them.

Here I have a bit too many! Menthol added to one tobacco, rum, coconut blend(Black Pearl)with another being a blend(Pioneer) plus a spearmint menthol(Artic Ice first out by CCV) as well as Baja juice, Temptation, Mocha Java, Euphoria, etc. from CCV along with the samples I was mentioning. Over time you will start to find out which ones you will prefer to stick with.

    True.
And as I've mentioned before, I always find it funny what you like and hate sometimes are different when it comes to vape.

I love my Ry4. But for vendor juices I find Fairy Blood and now recently, Shamrock fairy I can vape all day and love.
Funny thing, I hate black licorice, and Shamrock has a lot on the inhale. yet as a vape i love it. Can't explain why.
Flovors I love I find dont work well as a vape, at least for me.

But yea, in time you will start to narrow it down and have a couple or so you find you never want to run out of.

One thing I end up doing here at times especially being more of a menthol person will be to add some from a menthol flavor I don't like to other flavors usually one time samples or simply don't agree in vapor form to see them vaped off much sooner. In fact I have a large bottle I use for "junk juice" where I had been draining the remants from tanks into which ended being a quite a mix up! When adding some of the Spearmint menthol from Vista Vapors which was quite a bit on the strong the entire bottle of mismatches suddenly smoothed out.

Now that Spring is in the air the focus will automatically lean towards the menthol flavors anyways. I tend to find that the smoother tobacco flavors perform better when you add some menthol in then when adding menthol to most other blends. One combo that came out well as a surprise however was a strawberry/tobacco/menthol blend where the menthol doesn't become overbearing as is the case with Spearmint and Wintergreen blends.

The idea of adding a little menthol here of course is mainly a tool to control the allergies since often a non menthol flavor will trigger an attack. A test of adding menthol to a growing list without the menthol ruining the rest has the hint in mind for that purpose since I may not be carrying two tanks or mods to have one menthol and something in another while out on the go. One of the reasons why I had even kept smoking for 35+yrs. was the menthol to allergies is like the inhaler is for an asthmatic. When you have an attack it can get a little severe at times.

(On one job I smoked while out on the road much to the foreman's dislike many years back. Gee an ecig back then could have... )
