Used to have an hp 6L. These were known to have feed issues but I don't print much at all so one sheet at a time for 10 years was ok. Then one fine recent day it just crapped itself. So I Bought a Samsung LJ off newegg.
Our Canon is about 5 years old & it'll be around for a while. Unfortunately, during the 3 month summer break, I had no reason to print any color documents & all the color heads clogged. Yes, I know now I should have run a color doc at least every couple weeks. So in the future, anyone that has a inkjet printer, be sure to run a color doc once in a while. It still prints good b/w docs, that's all we need for now.
BTW, I went so far as to try soaking the printing part of the head in alcohol for a few hours...no good.
2 Canon printers from 2007 and 2 younger Canon printers and 1 HP printer. Note that they are in 3 locations - that's why there are so many. They serve 6 PCs.
I don't remember when I bought them, long time ago, but I have an HP LaserJet 2600n and HP LaserJet P1006. My scanner is less than 4 years old. My old Mustek 8.5x14 wouldn't work with Vista, so I had to get a new one. It still works okay with Win7.
Right now I have a Samsung ML-1865 laser printer working. So far so good with it, almost 3 years old and still without major problems.
My first printer is still in home, now collecting dust, a Citizen 200GX dot matrix one! Almost 20 years old by now, and I suppose it still works if I plug it. The last time it actively used it was around 5/6 years, with XP. Win7 may also use it. Problem is finding ink for it.
I have two Kodak's. Each one hooked to a different computer. Hard wired.
Kodak 2150 ESP Office
Kodak ESP 3250
Both about 4 or 5 years old.
In the closet behind me I have a HP PSC 1410 just resting. This HP is about 6 or 7 years old. Years ago I use it for photos but the photo paper and ink was costing a kings ransom to do photos. People wanted me to print photos free. That's why it is still in the closet.
All the rest of the printers through the years I gave away to folks that needed a printer.
I have 3 HP 930C workhorse printers. Bought one and got 2 free ones from work when they threw them out after replacing them with machines that did not last. These are at least 10 years old and work on Windows 7&8 64 bit. My scanner is an Agfa SnapScan 600 which uses the SSCI interface and the last driver for the card was a 64 bit Vista driver which works fine under 7. Bought it in 1998 when the PC was running Windows 95 with 128mb of ram. The software only works with 32 bit Windows so I use Vuescan and the scans are fantastic.
If anyone has a scanner that no longer works under modern Windows I recomend you try out Vuescan. It will breathe new life into your machine.
VueScan Scanner Software for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux
I still have my trusty LaserJet 5P - the problem is finding a machine with a parallel port to run it off
Windows 7 actually has drivers for it
