It's nice to read about parents taking charge of what their children do and do not do with computers. In my opinion that should also include what games they play.

I agree 100%. There are a lot of these kids that do nothing but play the most violent games for hours on end, in the privacy of their rooms with the door locked. It has to take a bad toll on them after a while.

I would think they get some kind of false complex, thinking they are tough, mean people which in reality they are far from it. Then they try to use this false complex out in the real world, this is when the real trouble begins or as we have seen too many times, end's.

Like I said before, if I had a boy or girl, I would be into every part of their business imaginable. I would not give a poop if they hated me, at least I would be keeping them safe and possibly saving the lives of other people also.
Rant over, I think.

I did exactly that with my Daughter when raising her. She has resented me her whole life because of it, which hurts a little. But, we have talked about it since She grew up. I told her that in the same situations, I may handle it different today, but when I look at myself in the mirror, the guy looking back at me, has no regrets for anything I did with you when you were growing up. I told her I have the confidence that I did What I thought was the right thing for you with what I knew at the time. And, that is all you can ask of anyone. Do what you think is right, not what is the easiest thing but the right thing.

I don't think violent video games causes a violent person. In fact I believe the opposite is true. Parents should definitely monitor what websites and games there kids play of course, as in a kid of 8 should not be playing an M rated game. That is what bothers me, when they buy games for there kids who are not old enough themselves to buy them.

Many years ago when I tough people firearms one of the things I did was use cans of beans, bottles of water, and melons as targets. It is fun. That was not my only reason.
It shows the new shooter the real damage a bullet can do.
That is something that a shoot every thing game can not do.

In drivers ed. years ago they showed pictures of car wrecks and the bloody damage it can do to the human body. They did it to show young drivers that a car was not a toy. About 30,000 die in car wrecks every year in this country.
That is something that a video game doesn't show.

My uneducated brain makes me think without proper parent control and input these games can give these young minds the wrong idea what the real world results of such actions really are.

You can't reboot the real world and everything is back to good and lovely.

I personally think If a kid cannot see the difference between a game and in real life, they have more issues then a video game.

my opinion.

Anyway,

Well, we grew up on Bugs Bunny cartoons where they beat each other up silly with anvils and such...not to mention the Three Stooges! We never mistook it for reality. Of course we talked to our friends, not typed at them
