And it's good to keep in mind that all jokes have a modicum of truth in them, sometimes unfortunately.

I like the way Microsoft stated it.
If you still need help running sfc /config the testing is not you bag of worms.

I have seen lots of questions asked on various forums regarding how to do this or that with the W10 Tech Preview that make it abundantly clear that many ignored the recommendations listed there, especially the part where it says "You really know your way around a PC and feel comfortable troubleshooting problems, ..." as well as "Aren't installing it on your everyday computer".

Well mine's in my main machine but it's in a VM so hopefully that will protect me to some extent. I'm not as knowledgeable as you lot but hopefully have enough common sense to not get myself into too much trouble. :)

Well, the advice is reasonable since it's just a beta with maybe some problems, but I doubt it's that dangerous. Maybe it's just to deter adventurers into blowing up a main machine to replace with an unfinished Win10.

Other than that, really, the install procedure is exactly the same since Vista and newer. And very similar to 2000/2003/XP. Not that much danger of a nuclear meltdown unless your purposely click "format"
