That's a relief :)
I'll give it a spin but I have to save as text file first to do the adjustments then html after :/

If you are making a custom homepage it can be worth making a google custom search of the sites you search the most and adding it to the page, as google produces better results that forum searches I have loads of custom search engines pinned in my bookmarks bar of all my most searched sites.

You can right-click the html file and use Open With or Send To - Notepad (if you've added Notepad to send to)
Normally I use Notepad++ but it sometimes locks the file. I think Notepad is fine for smaller and more simple files.

Yep notepad worked fine I believe my favorite do that already but at least your way they're all on one page less scrolling

The custom search is a nice thing. There's also a manual way if you don't mind typing some extra chars, example Google search:
