Computing/Networking Project Ideas?

Hey All,

I'm currently in University and we have to do an 6 month project and I was wondering if you would be able to offer me some project ideas.

I'm studying Computer Networks (Bachelor's degree) so ideally it would be network related, but it can pretty much any area in computing, some ideas revolve around Software Defined Networking, Virtualization, Cloud Computing etc.

Those area are obviously very broad subjects and I need to pick a specific topic and come up with a question to investigate. It has been suggested that it is better to pick something specific and dig deep with it rather than picking a broad area and not going into much detail.

What big changes are happening in Computing/Networking that would be good to investigate?

All suggestions are welcome, please offer any ideas you have. :)

Network security. Including.
Networking using wifi, internet, cloud computing.

Any thing that can access a network/domain that is not hard wired security needs on sending and receiving systems.

Thanks for the suggestions, really appreciate it.

Anyone else have some ideas, the project would involve setting up a practical to test what you are investigating.

Hello,

Others have great suggestions, just need to add something to it.... Nowadays it's all about Cloud computing technology, as well as secured cloud storage. I do get a lot of emails daily from different Vendors about these and I've attended a few webinars as well. To be precise, if you want an aggressive project, one good thing to talk about is... secured Cloud solution - either mobility or cloud storage. Security devices - e.g. Sonicwall is an excellent topic as well.
