Joan, the new box doesn't have the aerial pass through connector any more and only one scart so you can't pass through there either, if you get a new TV then you would connect the sky box with HDMI as it should be used, you don't need a smart tv, the wifi is so your new sky box can connect to the net and use thing like iplayer etc.

Thanks John, this will all have to wait till after Christmas before getting sorted out, although my darling daughter did inform me this morning that they got a new telly yesterday. A 32" from Sainsburys for about a £150.

Prices for moderate sized TVs have been coming down lately. Now that 3D has bombed they are moving on to the next big thing 4K.

Bought our household here a 50" Sharp LED special for holidays at Best Buy for $399. Great picture, features, fit and finish. What's the gimmick?

The ten year old $200 Sony Home Theater system (another favorite quality gift to give along w Cuisanart Grind N Brew) still sounds like planes are flying overhead, voices from all directions, dishes clatter around the room.

Merry Chrstmas, Happy Chanukah, Kicky Kwanza! I'm riding bike down LA coast In the warm golden sun on a windy chilly day.

Anyone else think iPhone pics and vids only displaying sideways in Windows is some kind of lame standoff? Any workaround besides installing QT player?

One thing I miss in my ex-pat life is the real winter in my native Finland, in Lapland. Here a few photos from last night showing the beautiful Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) in winter sky. All photos taken yesterday at Arctic Snow Hotel & Glass Igloos Resort a few kilometers south of Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi, capital of Finnish Lapland:

Those are gorgeous Kari, I love seeing photos and videos of the Northern Lights.

Hope you are having a good holiday, but not drinking too much.

That's a deal! Should I make bookings for the next winter?
