Don't crack any ribs while laughing at the title of this news report! It's actual science at work and something BG is funding for some undeveloped countries?!

Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates isn’t afraid to put his money where his mouth is, even when it means drinking a glass of water processed from human waste.
Through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Gates funded the creation of the Omniprocessor by the bioengineering firm Janicki Bioenergy.

The machine works by turning sewage sludge into useable electricity and drinkable water within minutes.
“The water tasted as good as any I’ve had out of a bottle,” said Gates in a written statement. “And having studied the engineering behind it, I would happily drink it every day. It’s that safe.”
The machine will be used in a pilot program in Dakar, Senegal, to see how the local community will react to it.

If you do a little thinking all water has been drank at least once. So I guess we all drink water that has been urine at least once.

Evaporation at sewage treatment plants eventually turns into rain fall at some point. The Birds and the Bees do their pees as we all know except when fluorine is added into the drinking water to kill off bacterias that eat into the enamel on teeth. Checkups since the 80s have been better on average while the real thought here is on just who was drinking what as the irony of this seems to suggest!

When you look at it in a certain light there;s about one of the richest people on the planet about to drink water that came from someone's ..... flush of....! The process described in the report however explains that through the evaporation by way of heat the heavier waste elements are separated from the H2O end result after condensation takes place afterwards. The entire process of course is to take waste water and be able to produce safe drinking water in areas where that is a scare commodity to begin with.

If you knew half of what goes into the foods we eat you would likely fast for ..... who knows how long! At one time the fuss was over salt in processed foods and now sugar is a main additive in the processed meats!

Actually if a place is close enough to the ocean desalination of salt water becomes the much more viable solution! Since the majority of the planet is covered by salt water the reservoir is not going to run out any time soon! Water Desalination | Earth Science Experiments | PlanetSEED

What may actually shock some who buy bottled water is learning what level of contaminents are found in those compared to ordinary tap or distilled water. Water stored in plastic bottles over lengthy periods of time extracts elements from the plastic itself which is porous material to begin with. This is plastic wares are notorious for absorbing food stains for containers, etc.

For bottled water however one study reveal some 300 parts per million compared to roughly 167-168 parts per million with tap water, drinking fountains, etc. and then put up against Charcoal Filtered note distilled water which only saw about 6-8 parts per million. That's practically a science in itself however with some general information seen at the WHO site. WHO | Guidelines for drinking-water quality - Volume 1: Recommendations

As far as just what the parts per million is depends on what is found in the local or regional environment as far as reservoir or well water which is another source. Boiled and Charcoal filtering water is a method for fast cleaning when out camping where you can have a camp fire and gear to boil and allow to cool off. Charcoal is considered to be totally dead material and won't see any lingering particles in the water once filtered through. You likely already heard somewhere about charcoal filters since they common place options.

I stick to my old motto ( from student time in Amsterdam ) Save WATER ,drink BEER.

Acctually, the tap water here in Tirol is quite good .

In Austria, tap water that is supplied is taken either from ground water or spring water. To protect these water resources Austria has formulated a strong Austrian Water Act. This act states 90% of the Austrians take their drinking water from the water supply facilities, which are run by the government. Supplying high quality drinking water is mandatory according to Austrian laws.
