They were only 50/50 that they could do it, but ultimately what they have learned from it will help in the quest for reusable rockets so it's not that big of a loss.

Nasty crash, be nice to see one after they up the limit on the hydraulic fluid and whether or not Falcon can handle the barge undulations from being on the ocean.

The team knows it can land on solid ground, but landing on a moving target is a different challenge. That could be why the fluid was insufficient for the added thrust vectoring calculations, and that brings up the question of; Do they have sufficient computing power to handle those added calculations to keep the craft perpendicular to the barge?

Only time and testing will tell.

UK's Beagle 2 lander spotted on Mars

Turns out the Beagle had landed, after all.

The 11-year-old mystery of what happened to the UK-sponsored Beagle 2 Mars lander on its trip to the red planet's surface appeared to be mostly solved Friday with the announcement the craft had been spotted in high-resolution NASA images taken from orbit.

The lander -- crammed with devices to look for signs of life on Mars -- never radioed home after hitching a ride aboard the European Space Agency's Mars Express orbiter and dropping into the atmosphere on December 25, 2003.

I`ve told many members about this. If you`re ever interested in watching the ISS fly over, just sign up here and you`ll get emails telling you the time, direction and angle in the sky of when it flies over, pretty neat when you see it on a good clear nite. At 17,500 MPH it really moves across the sky
