Watch NASA Fire Up the Biggest Rocket Ever Built

Quote:
NASA on Wednesday fired up its Space Launch System (SLS) for the very first time and thankfully, we can watch the "largest, most powerful rocket booster ever built" produce 3.6 million pounds of thrust in two minutes of awesome.

The SLS will be responsible for lifting NASA's deep-space Orion crew vehicle into space, carrying astronauts to destinations like Mars and near-Earth asteroids.

Total Eclipse of the Moon April 4th, Saturday morning.

Here's what it'll look like in my neck of the woods: Eclipses visible in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. - Apr 4, 2015 Lunar Eclipse You can reset that time and date page to get your location.

Sorry John (z3r) , not visible in Europe, most of Africa, scroll down a bit to see viewing map: April 4, 2015

March 30, 2015: It's déjà vu all over again. For the third time in less than a year, sky watchers in the United States can see a total eclipse of the Moon.

The action begins at 3:16 AM Pacific Daylight Time on the morning of April 4th when the edge of the Moon first enters the amber core of Earth’s shadow. For the next hour and 45 minutes, Earth's shadow will move across the lunar disk, ultimately swallowing the entire Moon at 4:58 AM PDT.

East of the Mississippi River, the eclipse will be interrupted by sunrise. People can see only a partial eclipse. West of the Mississippi River, people can see the whole thing, including totality.

"Totality" is when the Moon is fully inside Earth's shadow. Some total eclipses last for more than an hour. In this case, however, totality spans just 4 minutes and 43 seconds—a result of the fact that the Moon is skimming the outskirts of Earth's shadow rather than passing centrally through it.
The brevity of the eclipse highlights the importance of watching the clock: Be outside no later than 4:58 AM PDT to witness the red Moon!

Why red?....

In the mean time, here's some stunning GoPro footage when astronaut Terry Virts took a camera with him for his spacewalk: https://archive.org/details/EVAGoPro

Quote:
This footage was taken by U.S. astronaut Terry Virts during two spacewalks (EVAs) on the International Space Station on February 25, 2015 and March 1, 2015.

On EVA #30, Virts and fellow astronaut Barry “Butch” Wilmore routed a series of cables in preparation for the arrival of two International Docking Adapters later in 2015. Virts also lubricated elements at the latching end of the space station’s Canadarm2 robotic arm while Wilmore prepares the Tranquility module for the relocation of the Permanent Multipurpose Module and the arrival of the Bigelow Expandable Activity Module (BEAM) later this year.

On EVA#31, the pair routed 400 feet of cable and installed several antennas associated with the Common Communications for Visiting Vehicles system known as C2V2. Boeing’s Crew Transportation System (CST)-100 and the SpaceX Crew Dragon will use the system in the coming years to rendezvous with the orbital laboratory and deliver crews to the space station.
