Jack goes duck hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck's gun rack.

1957 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.

2014 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

Pretty much right on, Wolfgang. Maybe slight exaggeration to make the point, but it's largely true.

    Where did you find that?

Anyone of a certain age (yours and mine) can attest to those differences in the examples, at least in the USA.

I wonder in what percentage of schools in the USA a student could get away with carrying a common pocket knife? In 1960, it was pretty much part of every teenage boy's apparel, where I came from.

This was sent to me by a friend. I don't know from where he got it. It is really very difficult now for the young people to grow up in a normal environment.

Searching for 1957 versus 2000, this version from 2007 is the earliest I could find: 8 Differences Between the 1950s and Now - Listverse
There are many variations of the list whs's friend sent him, but this one's the same, and no mention of an author anywhere.

I really don't see any exaggeration in Wolfgangs post.

If I would of got in trouble with every fight I had in school I will still be locked up. I only lost one fight. The principal looked at me as I passed his office and made a statement.

What does the other guy look like? Did you finally lose a fight?

The principal was one of the few Rangers that lived through Anzio of 1944. Me and the kid I fought both had knives but never pulled them. We just pounded the hell out of each other. That is one reason you have knuckles. We were friends after that fight which lasted the entire lunch hour with the gym bleacher filled with spectators. His name was Ryan.
When I got home and my dad saw my face. He ask me what truck run over me.
When I explain how Ryan kept hitting me and I couldn't block a left jab, my dad being a golden glove in his younger years showed me how to shadow box in a mirror to learn how to stop the left jab.
No cops, teachers or any body else did or said anything more about the fight.
Just two young lads working out a disagreement. Me and Ryan didn't need any drugs or consoling ; just a ice pack for each of us.

I have carried a knife with me sense grade school. I did get in trouble in high school biology class when I dissected a frog with it. The class room dissecting tool were so dull all they did was smash the poor little dead frog. I know of no one that carries a dull knife.
The only difference between then and now is now I have a higher quality knifes and a large assortment of them. I never leave home without one.

    Your welcome Wolfgang.
I have not lived a shelter life. Therefor I have many stories.
They are true and your post just made me remember one of them.
Just thought I would share one of them.

The damn biology teacher liked my yellow bone handled knife so much he kept it for himself. Couldn't say nothing because it was against school regulation to carry a knife but everybody did. I just got another one out of my collection.

Before some one else does this I will.

This was too good not to read i chuckled a lot because it's the truth and you forgot there would be no single moms raising kids getting child support

The family would be together and there would be no such thing as mom divorcing Daddy she would make it work unlike 2015 where every person claims they can't find a match because they are too busy focusing on material and what they can gain than the actual person in front of them pretty sad indeed
