I know that Clouds is the thing of the future whether I like it or not.
I just don't think at this time Cloud security has kept up with Cloud use.

To me Cloud computing is one stop shopping for hackers. It even gets better when one syncs the Cloud to everything they own in their computing life.

I've never seen a single case of the MS Cloud losing files, snooping or being hacked in six years here.

Surely if this were a realistic risk we would have heard from consumers since this is by far the top tech forums.

Likewise I'm waiting for a single complaint of BIOS or gadget infection which we were told was why UEFI was required and gadgets no longer supported. These are alleged improvements that actually disrupted consumers, not the Cloud which is free storage and sync that leaves a copy on your hard drive.

I sync my data on my system in Florida to my system in Germany (and vice versa) over the clouds. When I leave one place to go to the other, I copy the files I want to take to a 2.5" disk and they get to the other place with Delta Airlines over the clouds.

Most people don't even know when their computer gets infected so I don't think it's to much of a stretch to think they probable wouldn't know if their Cloud gets infected.

I don't know where to begin, so much biased and, to put it short, wrong information... Let's start from a few selected comments. I want to apologize, this is going to be a long post however compact I try keep it. I also want to assure that my responses below to selected quoted comments are in no way meant to be taken personally. Everyone of us has right to an opinion.

To the business:

In which way? That is (excuse my French) totally BS. Of course if you want to use the sync and both MS and third party online services to the fullest, signing in with an MS Account and keeping yourself always signed in to Google and whatnot, the computer needs to be online and there will be constant traffic going in and out. BUT: that's exactly the same in Seven if you keep yourself signed in to MSN and Google, Dropbox and OneDrive and so on. There's no difference.

If you however use a local account to sign in to Windows 10 and do not connect your user account to an MS Account, there will be extremely little traffic caused by Windows itself.

I am sorry to say this but your statement is nothing but an invented pseudo fact by a disappointed user.

If you want to / need to search your computer, why on earth would you use the Taskbar search if you do not want to see Bing search results? Use the Explorer search, no Bing there. On the other hand, I am an experienced Explorer search user but now with Windows 10 I have noticed I use the Taskbar search more and more because it is so incredibly fast!

Cortana fed to you? If you do not use Cortana why don't you turn it off?

Please read my response to Thrash above. Use local account, it allows you to connect to only those services you want to. If you for instance only use OneDrive but no other online services and Modern apps, sign in with a local account, sign in to OneDrive and you are done. No more cloud than in using Seven.

No, I do not know that. Where do you geeks find these invalid pseudo facts? Desktop is an essential part of Windows 10 and, as hinted above in my previous comments, using a local account you don't have to ever use a Modern app apart of the Settings which will replace the Control Panel. Other than that it's exactly like Windows 7; you run your desktop apps on the desktop as before. Your desktop apps will continue working, you can use your Windows exactly as if it was Windows 7. The Start Menu is different and Explorer has a few more bells and whistles but that's it.

Brings me pervert joy to 100% agree with you . Like you I am completely moved over to 10.

Interesting assessment and allot of assumptions,
I believe it's well known I use a local account and have nothing connected to a Microsoft account except for the feedback app,
So the tooth fairy must be putting Bing image of the day Popular now along with Bing desktop search web suggestions there :?

Kari, like you I realize that there are ways to avoid the intended direction of W10. Nevertheless, the direction is towards the cloud - and that's what was discussed here.

Any of us can finagle the system so that it looks like anything you want. But that does not change the thrust of the MS direction that millions of people will have to follow because they do not have our skill level. And I suspect that even we do not fully understand the implications of the cloud direction.

Just recently I bought a little 11.6" laptop. Because I did not think I signed into my MS account when I made the 8.1 installation. Next thing I know was that the laptop was automatically device encrypted without asking me. Did you know that this is done for Instant Go devices and how do you know whether your laptop is Instant Go before you install the OS.
