Buying New Phone

I've wanted a sony ericsson xperia 1 from the moment I saw it. I can now afford one (off ebay) and don't know if I should buy it or not. My w960i serves me well, except there are some minor problems with the touch screen. I'm willing to spend $550AU on a new phone. I've been researching hard but still can't decide. I love the features on the x1, qwerty keyboard, good sized touchscreen, 3.5mm jack but don't know if I can justify the purchase to myself. I want a phone I can synch with outlook, watch movies on and write messages either on the screen (good hand writing recog is essential) or via the keyboard.
What phone would you buy if you had $550AU to spend?

If the sony ericsson xperia 1 is the phone you've been lusting over and saving hard for, I think you should buy that phone, you deserve it.
Hmmm....$550AU, that's £303.....me personally, i'd buy an iPhone for my girlfriend so she stops messing with mine!

Well a brand new iPhone 3GS (16GB) seems to be around the £600 mark - That's 46652 INR.
Of course prices do vary depending on iPhone size, condition, if used etc.

How about buying from Apple.com? Will the price vary?

I was quoting prices from eBay.co.uk there. I can't get to prices on Apple.com as they're only selling to new or existing AT&T wireless customer (i'm not existing!)
