I have this portable external drive of 1TB. How do I make this into an SSD? Do I have to delete all the in-built files and application like the Portable SecretZone and the Samsung Drive manager first?

I can understand that some are just little lost puppies. I don't have a problem with that as long as they are willing to learn.

I have no doubt that Wolfgang pointed the puppy in the proper direction.

You cannot make a HDD into a SSD. Those are two completely different technologies.

No. You may want to read up on SSDs.

Solid-state drive

A solid-state drive (SSD) (also known as a solid-state disk though it contains no actual disk, nor a drive motor to spin a disk) is a data storage device that uses integrated circuit assemblies as memory to store data persistently. SSD technology uses electronic interfaces compatible with traditional block input/output (I/O) hard disk drives, thus permitting simple replacement in common applications. We live and learn, LOL

But SSDs are cheap these days. You can get a 240GB SSD for as low as $85.

Fun is for 'off topic'. But a poor individual that does not (yet) know the ropes needs help to get the facts. I have seen many of those blue eyed OPs. To some I even offered help via email and have been following them for several years. Eventually they could paddle themselves.

I made a ton of little tutorials for simple things like "the difference between files and folders". For us it is difficult to understand that someone would not know that, but everybody has to start somewhere.
