A friend of mine hit a big kangaroo at night while doing demi-lightspeed in a van on a country road. The front of the van looked like it had collided with a wrecking ball. The body of the animal severed the pipes of the steel bullbar, smashed through the sheetmetal and windscreen in front of the passenger's seat, and ended up most of the way out of the other end of the van. Had anyone been sitting in the passenger seat, it would have taken a spatula to separate their remains from those of the 'roo.

About the only thing you can say is that it's even worse for the animal

For a few seconds and then it would have blacked out. No pain after that.
