    Purchase advice from eBay

    Hi,

I don't know if this is the suitable sevenforums section or not.

1- In 'return policy', I have noticed 'after receiving the item, contact seller within 14 days' So, my question is: if I have contacted the seller after a month, how could the seller know that I have really received the item, however, I have not contacted him. So, he will not refund my money if I contact him him after passing 14 day

2- while selecting "Saudi Arabia" as my shipping address, I noticed that estimated delivery was specified. However, it'll take too much time.(12 days). However, while selecting Yemen, there is no specified estimated delivery? (two screen shots above)

3- I am now in Yemen. However, as long as the items shipped to Yemen are stolen in Yemen customs. So, while purchasing from eBay while in Yemen, I would like to select 'Saudi Arabia' as my shipping address since a friend of mine is residing there. So, I would use his personal information. Thus, my item would be shipped to him in Saudi Arabia.

4- I have been looking for many spare parts for HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook since the spare parts of this model of notebooks are not sold in the local Yemeni markets . So, if that way could ship them to me in secure/safe way, it would be much better from shipping directly to Yemen due to the stealing in Yemeni customs.

Hi Hadramawt, You're right, this probably isn't the right place. You have to read the ebay terms. I think many there do not send to a third party address.

Thanks a lot, What do you mean with a third party address?

NOTE: I, myself, will purchase from eBay while in Yemen, however, while purchasing I will select the Saudi Arabia as my shipping country address. There is a friend of mine residing in Saudi Arabia. So, while purchasing I will type in shipping address form his information, such as his name, country, mobile, and so on. As a result, the item will be shipped to Saudi Arabia where my friend's address there is. What I will do is I will use my master card issued in Yemeni bank to pay for the item.

Could you reply to my other points?

Thank you so much indeed for your clarification.
Yes, I have now gotten it, but that was typo since I have copied this post from Tom's forum, and pasted it here since this thread is just talking about advice/experience. So, I would like to post it in a variety of forums.

A third party address would generally mean someone other than yourself.

For instance: If Smith buys a computer from Jones and wants Jones to ship it to Leroy, then Leroy would be the "third party address".

Yes, but what else should I be doing if the items shipped to Yemen are stolen and lost in Yemeni customs?
Also, some other online sellers, for instance, at Amazon.com, and others, don't ship directly to Yemen.

I have now been looking for these parts below for about 5 months, and I didn't find them in the local Yemeni markets, nor have I been brave enough to purchase from eBay.com, and let them ship to Yemen since I have been very afraid that my items will be stolen and lost in Yemeni customs.

We are experiencing high ordeals in Yemen.
I hope you understand me. well.

    Some basic things-

    1) Many sellers will only send to Paypal verified addresses. As long as the address you wish to send to is verified, it should be okay.

    2) Paypal now allows up to 180 days to file a claim, and if for whatever reason you can't file a claim on eBay you can do so direct through Paypal.

    3) Paypal's policy is that a seller must provide tracking that proves DELIVERY, not merely shipment. Otherwise the buyer is likely to get a refund on a claim.

    4) A seller's own stated policies really don't mean anything- it's whatever eBay and Paypal says are the rules regarding refunds or returns. This effectively kills "no returns" or "sold as-is" policies.

    Thanks a lot,
I only have a master card with which I can purchase from eBay. I don't have any Paypal cards at all.
    So, how could I do?
I am only afraid that the items shipped to Yemen are stolen in Yemeni customs since the Yemeni customs employees don't notify a buyer when its items received at Yemeni customs. So, how could a buyer know where his items are stuck?

Paypal is a payment processor only- you have to use your credit card or bank account through them.

If your stuff doesn't arrive, then it's likely stuck. At best you can file a Paypal claim to get a refund if it never arrives. If the package was shipped with proper international tracking it should show movement online.
